Memphis, Brazil and Cincinnati: Making Beautiful Music Together

lakinni The muggy midsummer air characteristic of Cincinnati, along with a seemingly apocalyptic amount of thunderstorms, are not cramping anyone’s style at Ambient Studios. Artists have been taking refuge from the heat and the rain to record some decidedly cool music, including the star of last month’s post, Brazilian double-threat Lakinni. The musician and model has formed a new musical act called Stigma de Lis and is currently collaborating with Blues great Noah Wotherspoon on a track titled ‘Don’t Make Me Cry.’ The uber-talented Wotherspoon won first place in last year’s Cincinnati Blues Challenge and was a finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. You can, and should, check him out here. And while I’m being bossy, make sure to stay tuned to hear what Lakinni, Stigma de Lis and Noah have cooked up!

summer music Summer is happening at Ambient Studios! Brazilian songstress and model Lakinni was in the studio this month, recording a hot EP. You can catch this blues singer putting on a “model” performance (couldn’t resist) at The Blue Wisp and The Greenwich, or right here.

Also in the studio was the band Arcadia Backfire, bringing it this month to complete their EP with a little help from Clint Lowery. The Sevendust guitarist is lending his co-writing skills to some of the material, with highly anticipated results! Check out Arcadia Backfire here.

The Mothership Has Landed…

Bootsy II

…in Pleasant Ridge! As any good funkateer knows, William Earl “Bootsy” Collins was born and still resides in Cincinnati. Also, he is awesome! Ambient Studios recently hosted his awesomeness for a high-energy recording session and video shoot. Bootsy’s lending his notoriety to an L.A. based group called UMIGO, who are borrowing him as a host for a children’s program designed to help children learn through music. Valuable lessons for kids and a great soundtrack for parents to get funky to? Bootsy, we couldn’t love you more!

Spring Revelry, Ambient Style

sunny day music

Blue skies ahead, folks! The sun is shining and there’s an air of possibility that comes with knowing that the frigid gray awfulness characteristic of Cincy winters is gone until next year. This is lucky for David, who has been keeping plenty busy. Bassist Mike Georgin, of Cincinnati’s legendary Over the Rhine and Plow On Boy, was in the studio laying down some sweet bass lines on a Country Pop track. April also saw the release of Arcadian Backfire’s song “Pain,” featuring an alt-rock sound that’s just perfect for banging your head while stuck in traffic. Shake out any residual winter blues by listening here! And if you’re wondering what else has been going on at the studio, mosey on over to the Ambient Studios website!
