The muggy midsummer air characteristic of Cincinnati, along with a seemingly apocalyptic amount of thunderstorms, are not cramping anyone’s style at Ambient Studios. Artists have been taking refuge from the heat and the rain to record some decidedly cool music, including the star of last month’s post, Brazilian double-threat Lakinni. The musician and model has formed a new musical act called Stigma de Lis and is currently collaborating with Blues great Noah Wotherspoon on a track titled ‘Don’t Make Me Cry.’ The uber-talented Wotherspoon won first place in last year’s Cincinnati Blues Challenge and was a finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. You can, and should, check him out here. And while I’m being bossy, make sure to stay tuned to hear what Lakinni, Stigma de Lis and Noah have cooked up!
Summer is happening at Ambient Studios! Brazilian songstress and model Lakinni was in the studio this month, recording a hot EP. You can catch this blues singer putting on a “model” performance (couldn’t resist) at The Blue Wisp and The Greenwich, or right here.
Also in the studio was the band Arcadia Backfire, bringing it this month to complete their EP with a little help from Clint Lowery. The Sevendust guitarist is lending his co-writing skills to some of the material, with highly anticipated results! Check out Arcadia Backfire here.
…in Pleasant Ridge! As any good funkateer knows, William Earl “Bootsy” Collins was born and still resides in Cincinnati. Also, he is awesome! Ambient Studios recently hosted his awesomeness for a high-energy recording session and video shoot. Bootsy’s lending his notoriety to an L.A. based group called UMIGO, who are borrowing him as a host for a children’s program designed to help children learn through music. Valuable lessons for kids and a great soundtrack for parents to get funky to? Bootsy, we couldn’t love you more!
Looking to finally cut that debut album? Ambient Studios is now taking on bands for live recordings in studio B. It’s an amazing large space that produces great sound, with rooms designed without parallel surfaces (even the ceilings)! Call the studio now to arrange a tour and to let your music be heard at its highest possible quality!
The holidays are over, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still show some love! Present your friends or family with a gift that they’ll never lose: lessons or recording sessions from Ambient Studios! Visit the website or call the studio for more information on Ambient Studios gift certificates-a truly unique way to show that you care!
2012 is drawing to a close and, though the New Year is not yet upon us, it’s creeping ever closer! In keeping with the theme of renewal, Ambient Studios has revamped its website for a fresh, modern feel with greater ease of navigation. Check it out today for studio information, including lessons (New Year’s Resolution #1: “I want to learn something new.”), recording (New Year’s Resolution #2: I want to get that album done.”) and custom music (New Year’s Resolution #3: “I want to make my website/movie/YouTube channel/etc…awesome!”). And now that you have your resolutions covered, get off of the computer and finish up that shopping, slacker!
Any time that I hear a song from my high school years, my mind is suddenly transported to a haphazardly decorated gym filled with awkward teenagers tugging at fancy clothes. Music evokes emotion like nothing else can; it has power, people. Ambient Studios can help you to bring that power to your project with customized music tailored to your specific vision. Original songs, licensed parodies, instrumental themes, underscores and soundscapes can all add emotion to your message, forging a deeper connection with your audience. Ambient Studios composers have worked with Disney Productions, 20th Century Fox Television, Miramax Films, RCA Records and many others to produce top quality custom music-let them do the same for you! Check out videos with custom scores by David here and here.
This week Ambient Studios was featured on CLASSX radio. D.J. Eric Deters A.K.A. “the Bulldog” sat down for an interview with studio owner David Prues. Playful banter included Ambient Studios recently adding a second location downtown for live band recordings, the custom music scoring team, and the addition of video production to the list of services offered.
